We are all learners of the Italian Language at St Joseph’s. Together as a community, we explicitly learn to understand and use functional classroom language.
Through the ‘Languages – Now We’re Talking!’ strategy for Victorian Catholic Schools, we implement a contemporary pedagogy approach where all teachers and students learn the Italian language. We allocate time each day to ensure frequent exposure to the language and encourage the creative use of Italian throughout the learning day. All learners are supported by a Language Assistant who is a native speaker of the target language. At St Joseph’s, we appreciate and acknowledge our diverse community by incorporating home languages into our learning experiences.
