Learning Diversity at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School
At St Joseph’s, Learning Diversity means embracing and including every learner, honouring their dignity, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of each child. Guided by our school vision ‘Together in God’s love, St Joseph’s will empower students to encounter the future with respect, courage and kindness enriched by life-giving relationships and inspired to bring the Gospel to life’ we are committed to creating a learning environment where all students feel included, supported and empowered to thrive.
Learning Diversity is closely linked to our teaching and learning practices. It involves understanding the unique academic and social-emotional needs of each student and providing the appropriate supports, adjustments and evidence-based interventions. These may include targeted programs in literacy, mathematics and social-emotional learning ensuring that every student is given the opportunity to grow, learn and succeed.
We work in partnership with families and where appropriate allied health professionals, drawing on current educational research to respond to the needs of each child. Through personalised learning goals and classroom adjustments we strive to ensure every student can access the curriculum in a way that is meaningful and empowering.
At the heart of Learning Diversity is the belief that every child deserves to be known, valued and supported to reach their full potential, with respect, courage and kindness.
